Bee Blessed Block call for November

Bee Blessed are hoping you can help them out with some speedy, fun 16 patch blocks suitable for modern men quilts.  I did chuckle when I read the colour specs and saw "modern brown" on the list but I know exactly what that means so it was a really helpful prompt - sludge, be gone!  

The blocks are made using the fab tutorial by Fiona Poppy Makes here.   All the details are over on the Bee Blessed Blog here.  Deadline for blocks is 25 November.  While you're there be sure to read their latest update and see all the gorgeous quilts they've been able to pass on with your help. 

So what are you waiting for?  Grab your fabrics and rotary cutter, switch on your machine and get to it ;-)

Bee Blessed - May 2013

I'm sure you'll have seen these 16 patch blocks popping up here and there on blogs and Instagram recently.  They are pretty and they are easy peasy if you follow Fiona's brilliant tutorial.  Having made this block I can see why some have described them as addictive - if I hadn't been making mine in a hurry before heading out, I'd probably still be up there churning them out.  Judith may have to lock up Bee Blessed around some of us when we get making these blocks on our Saturday meet up!

Anyway, as you will have guessed, this is our Bee Blessed block for May.  If you fancy making some for us, please stick to two prints per block as in the tutorial - no need for white background this month.

4 x 4 x 4

In a wee box in the corner of my sewing room is a collection of blocks for the recycled shirts quilt I'm making in slow time.  As part of my plans for November I had hoped to make a few more blocks and at the weekend I did.

Four 4 x 4 blocks were stitched up and added to the pile.  Those little blighters have quite a bit of shift going on in them - differing fabrics and some cut on the bias as per the original shirts are giving me a run for my money on what should be easy peasies.  Undeterred, I've added them to the box and will just have to put my faith in my trimming abilities when all the blocks are made up.
