Stash Raider

De-cluttering of any kind always feel like a relief to me and in the sewing room it is no different.  This summer I have methodically been culling, condensing and re-arranging my supplies.  While I was clearing out I realised that my stash is really a bit bigger than I need or indeed want to have stored in the room, so I am on a mission now to reduce what has grown by using it up.

I am not declaring a fabric purchasing ban, especially as a new Bonnie & Camille range is just about to hit the shops,  but I am going to raid my stash as much as possible for the projects I have on my list for the next few months.

So here's what I've raided so far:

  • fabrics for Reene's Mystery BOM in the Quilt Now Magazine
  • fabrics for finishing the Sparkling gemstones quilt with Kaffe Fassett fabrics (hopefully enough for backing too)
  • a package of fabrics to finish the Apple Core EPP quilt top
  • pack already cut for a pixellated heart baby girl quilt
  • selection of fqs to cut a baby boy quilt from
  • a basket of fabrics for making three gift cushions - I think there will be enough for the backings of the cushions too

ALL FROM MY STASH!

Here's a wee peek at the cutting I've already done for the three butterfly cushions:

I think this is a great start to my stash raiding, now I just need to get sewing!!

  1. Maybe that's what I need to do.........because every time I turn around there's a pile of fabric on every flat surface.
    It's not good for productivity.........!
    I might get something finished.
    Your butterflies are pretty too..........

  2. I always think it's so satisfying to shop your stash - especially for gifts. It's like presents for free! Those butterflies are awfully pretty - I am taking note!

  4. Loving the look of the buttefly cushions. I too will be raiding my stash and embarking on a big declutter. I've managed to not buy fabric for a couple of months and want to use up what I have rather than just buy more.

  7. Stash raiding is good. Buying more is good too. I just bought a F8 bundle of Miss Kate because I really, really wanted it but couldn't afford a FQ bundle unfortunately. Compromise works for me and Knotted Thread doing the F8 as a daily deal on IG was fortuitous.

  9. I love those butterflies! I also love a good sort out - the problem is that once I start, I can't stop until the whole house is done!

  11. We just moved house three weeks ago, so there had been a massive de clutter going in since June. Feels great! Still too much stuff for the five of us though...the fabric did not get a major destash. I've advertised what I don't require any longer on Instagram and a fb site, but nobody seems to want the stuff I don't love any more either!
