Cosy Christmas Complete

Hooray!  Let off the festive fireworks for my Cosy Christmas 2016 Sewalong quilt is finally finished - yippee!!

Now follows cuteness overload and too many pics which I shall justify hereafter.

...  because I need to show you the full quilt

...  because the first picture wasn't that clear, so I tried a different location (but it kept slipping off!)

...  because I tried to show you more of the details ...

 ...  half a quilt at a time

...  because this block is my favourite

...  because the red embroidery thread around the ric-rac is very clever

...  because he's sweet

... because, well just because

and finally, because stripy binding is always a winner, but even more so when it's candy cane stripes!!

So there you have it, one late/early Christmas quilt for CT who really isn't quite ready for it anyway, but at least now it's ready when she is!  Huge thanks to Lori Holt's lovely pattern and sew along in 2016 even if I did fall a little behind ;-)

Cosy Christmas Quilt Update

I can hardly believe it's more than 2 years since I started Lori Holt's Cosy Christmas quilt and the quilt remains unfinished even now!  But, I have made progress very slowly and now have a Cosy Christmas flimsy.

I love it!  It's wonky and quite inaccurately pieced but oh, it's such a cute design!!

I was going to baste it last weekend but, much to my disappointment, discovered that I'm out of 505 spray, so looks like it'll be another while/year before this quilt crosses the finish line!

Cosy Christmas Quilt

Did you think I'd forgotten the Lori Holt Christmas quilt?  It feels like a long time since I posted the first three blocks.  In the interim, I have been choosing fabric and tracing templates here and there and generally getting the remaining nine appliqué sections ready to stitch down.  Aren't they sweet?  Well, Lori Holt projects are, aren't they?

Which is your favourite?  I'm torn between the mug of hot chocolate and those pressies with the big yellow bow.  Maybe because I'd quite like both to be real!!  Now, if that were true what would I like to be in those little packages? ....

Weak weak weak - Cosy Christmas Sew Along

Yes, I am weak.  I could not resist Lori Holt's Cosy Christmas Sew Along, especially as I have a Cutesy Tootsie who makes a perfectly good excuse for such frivolous sewing!

Block 1

Now, I am not naive enough to believe this will be a sew along that I can keep up with, but that's ok.  There's no rush and Cutesy is too little to be excited by a Christmas quilt just yet anyway. Phew, that gives me another year, possibly two, to actually bring it to conclusion!

Block 2

I have all the constituent parts of the quilt already cut so that it's ready to go when I get around to the appliqué blocks that are the main feature of the quilt.  Of course, I have been impatient and there are now three little blocks stitched up already.

Block 3

The cuteness of these just tickles me.  Oh yes, I am enjoying having a little daughter to sew for!  I will probably overwhelm her with girliness and she'll turn out a pink-hating tom boy just to serve me right - ha!

(Forgive the unkempt edges of my blocks.  I've decided when I'm holding blocks for a while before they will finally be stitched into their quilts that I won't trim them until nearer the time just to protect the seams from coming apart  in storage and handling.)

Are you sewing along with Lori this year?
